No Colorado...

So, we ended up NOT going to Colorado for the DD Broomfield event. Scheduling, budgets, etc. BUT we're all registered up for Scottsdale at the end of the month for Cynosports and the SD World Championships! Loder only needs two more legs to be Senior titled - woot! Although I wouldn't be sad if he jumps it up to Pro but that's high high high hopes, lol.

Sadly, swimming season is nearing it's end so I thought I'd post some random pics of Loder doing what he loves BEST...UNDERwater diving!! I swear DD or SD needs to make this an event!!!

Dock Dogs next weekend in Colorado!!!

We're heading to Colorado next weekend to participate in our 2nd Dock Dogs event!! I sewed our Rah! Raw! Rah! patches (THANKS again, Suzanne!) tonight onto Loder's vest (OK, just quick and dirty hand stitching since I can't machine sew) and had him do some modeling. He acted like it was pure torture, lol.

This Colorado event will be our first club event as LVDD members - we're VERY excited about that!! It will be so great to be part of group of competitors!

In our first DD event back in February, Loder earned a Junior leg, so we're hoping that he'll earn all Seniors this time :) And then in November, here at Strut Your Mutt, that he'll earn even more!

Oh, and I'm quite happy to report that Loder's size 7 vest is DEFINITELY more loose than back in February (well, except for around his beefcake neck)! Way to tone up on the RAW diet!! We've been feeding RAW for a year and four months - BEST.DECISION.EVER!!

Just updating...finally

Well, lots of stuff has happened since April. We went to Costa Mesa for the Splash Dogs event. Loder jumped well, got his PB of 15'02". Not at far as we would like, but it is always a work in progress.

A practice jump:

From sideline feedback and pictures, Loder is leaving the dock anywhere from 3-4 feet early which is cutting significant length from his jumps and hindering his "pop" from the end of the dock. To combat this, we've been practicing his sit/stay/release at home. He is doing well at home BUT around other dogs, he is all bonkers which is something we definitely need to get under control.

A competition jump, leaving waaaaay too early :(

Despite the early launches, he was able to earn 2 more legs toward his Senior Title which puts him at 3 legs total (he also has 2 legs in Junior). We've been debating which events to attend to work on getting those last two legs and we'll probably just attend the Bakersfield event in September. The goal is to have him titled by the Championships in Oct/Nov. But, if not, the world won't end ;)

The two COOLEST things that have transpired since April are:

1. Loder is now sponsored by our raw food distributor, Rah RAW Rah Pet Foods!!! Awesome!! THANK YOU THANK YOU, Suzanne!!!

and

2. The creation of the Las Vegas DockDogs club!!

We put in our application and are now official members!! I took Loder to one practice event but with his overwhelming desire for every turn to be his, it didn't go so well and we had to leave early. We went to another practice last Sunday sans Loder and hopefully there will be practices set up soon at a local pre-fab pool facility. It will be nice to have a more formal setting so we can hopefully work on his sit/stay/releases.

I am also really excited to start Loder on Speed Retrieve. It's what he basically does anyway for his Big Air jumps, so SR only seems natural :)

AAACK!!

Just figured out that 5 "jumps" equals 5 waves...so, he's set for 3 waves in Arizona and it looks like we'll have to go to California next month for the other 2!! We're so excited!!!

Update!

Well, since it's been a few weeks, I thought I'd give an update.

Turns out Heidi is all better now. Seems she had a bad reaction to her rabies vaccination. Thank goodness Loder isn't due for his rabies for another year though we nervous because Zoe is due for her booster in August. We plan to talk to our vet about titering for rabies and if there is a certificate for that.

In OTHER news...WE'RE GOING TO SCOTTSDALE TO COMPETE IN SPLASH DOGS!!!!!

Loder is so excited!! The girls are going to stay with Grandma while we head with Loder to Arizona March 14-16!! Zoe has been to/through Arizona, but this will be Loder's first time :) He's going to compete in 3 waves on Saturday the 15th so hopefully he'll do well enough to get some ribbons!!

Wish Loder luck!!

Our friend is sick :(

Our friend, Heidi, is sick. We hope she gets better soon! Dodie doesn't like his Auntie Lisa to be sad or worried.
